John Morrell® Introduces New Products to Minneapolis
“Bigger than the Bun” smoked sausages are 1” longer than competition

Grocery shoppers in the Minneapolis market will soon be introduced to two new John Morrell products, “Bigger than the Bun” smoked sausage links and the company’s Ham Cuts. The “Bigger than the Bun” smoked sausages are a completely new product for Morrell, and are a full one-inch longer than competitive links, but available at a lower price. The pre-cooked, pre-sliced ham cuts were introduced on a limited basis last year, but are available for the first time in Minneapolis beginning in April.

The “Bigger than the Bun” smoked sausages are available in several varieties, including: Smoked Sausage, Smoked Sausage with real Wisconsin Cheese, Beef Smoked Sausage, Smoked Bratwurst and Hot Smoked Sausage. The sausages, which come five to a 10-ounce package, are high quality and comparable to higher priced links; they are made without poultry fillers and with no MSG or trans fat. Additionally, the sausages are naturally smoked, never frozen and use hand-blended proprietary spices for a consistent taste. “Bigger than the Bun” links are formulated for use on the grill or for quick and convenient microwave meal solutions. The ham cuts can be found in several packaging sizes and include: diced ham, cubed ham, ham juliennes, Canadian bacon, ham breakfast slices, and ham steaks. The product eliminates the need for consumers to dice, cube, slice or julienne ham prior to using it in recipes, and the resealable packaging translates to repeated convenient meal solutions for consumers. Advertising in the Minneapolis market during 2007 will be focused on the “Bigger than the Bun” products. The advertising launch is slated for May to coincide with the beginning of the grilling season, and will include new creative prominently featuring NFL quarterback Carson Palmer.
